Full Time Nanny

Maple Glen, PA

Location:

Maple Glen, PA

Rate: $27-$35 per hour

Job Summary:

The family is seeking a warm, experienced, and emotionally attuned Nanny to support two children, ages 6 and 8, with a primary focus on consistency, availability, and responsive care. The core schedule is three guaranteed weekdays (Monday–Wednesday), with the potential for flexibility or additional hours for the right candidate. Weekend hours may occur with advanced notice.

Hours: Monday-Wednesday. 9:30am-5:30pm

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive, nurturing care to the child, ensuring their physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met.
  • Offer autonomy-supportive, low-demand care to a child with PDA, adjusting expectations based on daily regulation.
  • Support school mornings with flexibility, including delayed arrivals or alternative plans as directed by parents
  • Prepare snacks and simple meals for the children as needed.
  • Assist with homework or quiet learning blocks when appropriate.
  • Transport children to and from school, activities, appointments, and playdates as scheduled.
  • Engage children in structured and unstructured play, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Communicate clearly with parents regarding daily observations needs and upcoming scheduled considerations.
  • Provide safe, nurturing, and emotionally supportive care for two elementary-aged children.

A central component of this role is being reliably available during weekday mornings and afternoons to support a child with PDA (Pervasive Drive for Autonomy), particularly on days when school attendance may be delayed or require a low-demand, supportive approach. On these days, success is defined by presence, emotional regulation, and responsiveness, rather than task completion or adherence to a fixed schedule.

The family values a neurodivergent-affirming caregiving approach and seeks a nanny who understands that some days involve active engagement and other days involve calm standby support while remaining ready to respond as needed. This role is ideal for a caregiver who is comfortable with flexibility, observes cues, and prioritizes connection over control.

When both children are in school or childcare needs are minimal, the nanny may assist with light household support as time and comfort allow, with the understanding that childcare and availability always take priority.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have a High School Diploma, GED or suitable equivalent experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Have 2 plus years of childcare experience, including infant care, or related professional work experience (such as daycare, teaching, etc.)
  • Successful completion of, or willingness to complete, Mandated Reporter Training and Car Seat Safety Training.
  • Active certification for CPR and First Aid.
  • Willing to complete a background check demonstrating suitability for caring for young children without supervision.
  • Had a recent (within last 12 months) physical with a physician and the ability to have a physician complete the Child Care Staff Health Assessment. For those without insurance, please consult this list of free clinics in Lehigh County.
  • Valid and clean driver's license and car insurance.
  • Ability to provide proof of current vaccinations including but not limited to Td or Tdap, MMR, HepA, HepB, PCV, influenza. COVID vaccination series and boosters are recommended but not required.
  • Proficient knowledge of home safety.
  • Possess sound moral character and kind disposition suitable for caring for children of all ages without supervision.
  • Possess valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record demonstrating proficient driving skills, including comfort driving in snow. A vehicle with car seats is provided for the Nanny to use during working hours, unless the Nanny strongly prefers use of their own vehicle.
  • Ability to work the hours outlined in the job description.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and engage in active play.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for child transportation

Household Support During School Hours (Secondary / As Time Allows):

When both children are in school and childcare responsibilities are minimal, the nanny may assist with the following tasks on a flexible, non-performance-based basis:

  • Light tidying of children's spaces and common areas.
  • Children's laundry and basic organization.
  • Simple meal support when feasible, such as reheating prepared meals or following parent-provided or meal-kit recipes. Chef-level cooking skills are not required.
  • Grocery ordering support and restocking of children's food items.
  • Occasional basic errands as needed.
  • Assistance with organization projects only with prior parent approval.
