Full Time Nanny
Location: Orefield, PA
Rate: $25-$30 per hour
The Nanny Loft is facilitating the nanny search on behalf of this family. The nanny will be employed directly by the family.
Job Summary:
The Nanny will care for two children, ages 4 years and 20 months old, Monday through Friday. Hours are 7am to 5pm on Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and 7am to 12 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the primary responsibilities are to drop the children off at their respective schools and some light errands, such as grocery shopping or the children’s laundry – as these tasks will usually be completed prior to 12pm, the Nanny will remain available “on call” in case of child illness, however the Nanny does not have to remain on the working premises during that time. The Nanny will provide a nurturing, structured, and warm environment for the children to grow and learn.
- Performing several childcare and childcare-related tasks at once.
- Engaging in physical activities with children over uneven and various terrain.
- Preventing harm to the child(ren), including but not limited to the ability to take swift
- action to prevent harm or remove children from potentially harmful circumstances.
- Lifting 25 lbs.
- Using hands and fingers to handle or feel.
- Standing/bending/stretching/reaching/kneeling/crawling, etc.
- Maintaining logs for the parents.
- Safely and legally operating a motor vehicle to carpool, or drive children to school,
- activities, medical appointments, playdates or run errands.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the family.
Responsibilities:
1. Childcare and Supervision:
Provide high-quality care for children of all ages, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Create a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters children's social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Arrange appropriate playdates and outings.
Follow families' guidelines and routines, including meal preparation, nap times, playtime, homework assistance, and discipline.
Safely bathing and dressing infants and young children.
Changing diapers and potty-training as age appropriate.
Research, plan, and engage children in age-appropriate activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, educational games, and indoor and outdoor play.
Read to the children and help with homework.
Help with light housekeeping duties such as tidying up, laundry, dishwashing, vacuuming, grocery shopping, and basic meal preparation (planning and preparing meals, feeding).
Safely and legally operating a motor vehicle to transport children.
Administering medicine with parent’s consent, if necessary.
Performing other duties as assigned by the family or agency.
2. Effective Communication:
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians.
Keep accurate records of daily activities, meals, medications, and incidents.
Communicate effectively with children, ensuring comprehension and facilitating positive interactions.
Respond promptly and appropriately to all communications sent by agency president or other leadership.
3. Required Qualifications:
Have a High School Diploma, GED or suitable equivalent experience.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Have 3 plus years of childcare experience, including infant care, or related professional work experience (such as daycare, teaching, etc.)
Successful completion of, or willingness to complete, Mandated Reporter Training and Car Seat Safety Training.
Active certification for CPR and First Aid.
Willing to complete a background check demonstrating suitability for caring for young children without supervision.
Had a recent (within last 12 months) physical with a physician and the ability to have a physician complete the Child Care Staff Health Assessment. For those without insurance, please consult this list of free clinics in Lehigh County.
Valid and clean driver's license and car insurance.
Ability to provide proof of current vaccinations including but not limited to Td or Tdap, MMR, HepA, HepB, PCV, influenza. COVID vaccination series and boosters are recommended but not required.
Proficient knowledge of home safety.
Possess sound moral character and kind disposition suitable for caring for children of all ages without supervision.
Handle age-appropriate care and responsibilities of children including: diapering, toilet training, assisting with homework, supervising outdoor play, transporting children to and from school, and taking children to age appropriate outings/activities.
Possess valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record demonstrating proficient driving skills, including comfort driving in snow. A vehicle with car seats is provided for the Nanny to use during working hours, unless the Nanny strongly prefers use of their own vehicle.
Ability to work the hours outlined in the job description.
4. Working Conditions:
This position requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
The individual may work in various households, adapting to different routines, environments, and household dynamics.
The work hours will be irregular and dependent on families' needs.
The individual may have job-related physical tasks inherent in the care of young children, including: the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, use hands and fingers to feel, engage in physical play at floor level, move quickly to ensure child safety, navigate the physical environment of the home and child play areas (which may have uneven or various terrain) safely and effectively, standing/bending/stretching/reaching/kneeling/crawling, possess the energy to physically and mentally engage with a young child throughout the workday.
The individual may have to enter homes with sick and/or contagious children and take care of them.
