Full-Time Nanny
Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities.
Looking for a part-time nanny for a warm loving family of 2 eye doctors and their extremely friendly 2-year-old Samoyed puppy for their 3 month old daughter. The primary role will be to care for their newborn on Mondays 7:30AM to 7PM and Fridays 8AM to 4:30PM. Their daughter is learning English, Punjabi, & ASL. The family wants to foster one on one learning and independent play with no screens of any type. Nanny will need their own vehicle for transportation to and from the job location. Nanny will be provided with mileage reimbursement if traveling more than 15 miles to the job location. Nanny will be welcome to all food in the home and welcome to use the kitchen for their own meal preparation.
Looking for an individual who would enjoy feeling part of the family and is an extension of parents. Must be comfortable and happy to assist with running errands. Parents will be working outside of the home. We wish to have someone who provides a nurturing yet structured environment with a good schedule for the child. We would like someone who is enthusiastic about the development of children and will incorporate a structured learning program guided by reading, tummy time, play and gentle teaching. Mom & Dad will provide the structure of child raising (schedules, feeding methods etc), nanny to support. Preferred language English (must). Must be willing to clean children’s areas and help maintain the common areas of the home. Experience in post-partum care and newborn care is highly desirable. This position has a possibility with opportunity for growth into a full-time position after 9 months.
Minimum Requirements:
- Provide child care in our home. Have a High School Diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Have 3 plus years of childcare experience, including infant care, or related professional work experience (such as daycare, teaching, etc.)
- Successful completion of Mandated Reporter Training
- Successful completion of, or willingness to successfully complete car seat safety training prior to start date.
- Background check (PA Child Abuse, Nationwide FBI Fingerprinting, PA Criminal History, Nationwide Sex Offender, Drug Testing, etc) demonstrating suitability for this position caring for young children without supervision.
- Possess valid CPR and First-Aid Certifications or be willing to obtain or renew as a condition of hire.
- Proficient knowledge of home safety.
- Possess sound moral character and kind disposition suitable for caring for children of all ages without supervision.
- Be physically fit, energetic, agile, and dexterous.
- Provide proof of current vaccinations including but not limited to Td or Tdap, MMR, HepA, HepB, PCV, influenza
- Handle age-appropriate care and responsibilities of children including:
- Bottle feeding breastmilk (knowledge of breastmilk safety)
- Diapering
- Safely changing and dressing a newborn
- Playing, reading, tummy time, age appropriate sensory activities, age appropriate learning/crafts/Montessori style play (including practical, sensory, language, culture, math)
- Napping
- Assisting with transition to solid food (knowledge of baby led weaning)
- Assisting in teaching words, alphabet, numbers, songs, reading
- Bathing a newborn if needed
- Oral hygiene when needed
- Affinity for dogs
- Possess valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record demonstrating proficient driving skills. Vehicle will be provided on Mondays.
- Essential Job Functions:
- Creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for the infant.
- Reliably and predictably attending work and being punctual.
- Safely bathing and dressing infants.
- Changing diapers and potty-training as age appropriate.
- Disciplining the child according to the family’s preferred parenting style.
- Arranging appropriate playdates and outings.
- Engaging in indoor and outdoor play.
- Researching, planning, and engaging in educational activities and crafts.
- Laundering infants clothes, bedding, etc.
- Planning meals, preparing food, and/or feeding the infant.
- Reading to the infant.
- Helping with homework.
- Organizing bedrooms/toys.
- Administering medicine with parents’ consent, if necessary.
- Performing light housekeeping such as dishwashing, grocery shopping, tidying up, vacuuming, etc.
- The ability to work Monday and Friday from various hours, with occasional evening and weekend hours.
- Occasional travel (domestic or international) with family for leisure or work.
- Performing several childcare and childcare-related tasks at once.
- Engaging in physical activities with child over uneven and various terrain.
- Preventing harm to the infant, including but not limited to the ability to take swift action to prevent harm or remove children from potentially harmful circumstances.
- Lifting 25 lbs.
- Using hands and fingers to handle or feel.
- Standing/bending/stretching/reaching/kneeling/crawling, etc.
- Letting dog into backyard; he has his own dog sitter for walks and feedings.
- Maintaining logs for the parents in writing or on apps.
- Safely and legally operating a motor vehicle to carpool, or drive children to school, activities, medical appointments, playdates or run errands.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the family.
